It's the dog days of summer....

Well, it is that time of year. It has been very hot with temperatures reaching the century mark. Please make sure that you are taking precautions to keep from getting heat exhaustion. Whether you are like me, screening and installing morning to night, or just playing in the yard, it would be to your best interest to pay attention and not get dehydrated.

This time of year stores have 24 packs of water on sale, make sure that you are stocking up and have plenty on hand to keep from sweating out all your fluids. The other day, we were working on a pool cage, and it was so hot that we didn't even need to go to the bathroom. This is not a good practice, nor is it something you should do everyday. My advice is to keep a gallon of water on hand and make sure you drink it all. It doesn't necessarily have to be ice cold, but it can't be hot either.

I just purchased an Arctic Cove Multi-Wrap from Home Depot the other day. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it looks like it will do exactly what I need it to do. Along with the heat and humidity, the sun leaves its mark on my neck. This provides a cover to block my neck from the sun. All the claims show that it will reduce heat by 30%. I can't wait to put it to the test and give you the results in a later blog. So for now, keep hydrated and reduce your time in the sun. Make sure to plan your work around the shade that is available. Talk to you soon.
